ASK REVS SANDY AND
KIRK
By Rev. Sandy and Kirk Moore
Q: In this economy, I am having some major challenges with
my financial situation. I want to meet my financial obligations, but it is
difficult. I pray and ask for help but it doesn’t seem to get better. What am I
doing (or not doing) that prevents me from clearing this block?
Bonnie, Laguna Hills, CA
A: This is not an unusual question and comes up with many people. Our principle
is that our life experience is an out-picturing of our core beliefs about the
issue we are confronted with; in your case, finances or abundance. There are
many race-conscious thoughts about abundance and financial matters. As much as
we may pray or ask for guidance from a higher source, we still embody at some
level an old thought or belief about money.
Many of us heard from family, friends, teachers or others that “money doesn’t
grow on trees,” “money is the root
of all evil,” or “there’s never enough to go around.” We believe in a
deep-seated idea that there is lack. In truth, we live in an abundant universe
and there is sufficient Good for everyone if we believe it is so.
I suggest that you create some daily affirmations about prosperity and know that you are deserving of this abundance in every area of your life. Look within yourself, at a deep level, and replace those old thoughts with thoughts of God’s Good and open your heart, mind and arms to receive what is yours.
Q: As with most people today, my life is very busy. With all of my
responsibilities and commitments that I deal with on a daily basis, what can I
do to create a peaceful mind and body?
Shelley, Irvine, CA
A: You are not alone. We all are faced with “full” schedules and the challenges
of handling all that is in our lives. I am a true advocate of Yoga and
meditation.
Yoga is a very peaceful way to stretch and relax our bodies, and it also
allows our minds to be focused on something other than our daily tasks. Meditation
is a great way to clear our minds of any clutter or thoughts that do not serve
us. It also allows us to be very present in the moment and turn our thoughts to
healthy alternatives. Start with small steps in both of these areas and you will
see a difference in no time.
